Innovative Environmnetal Technologies, Inc. (IET) has an Additional Two Patents Issued in a Single Day
US PATENT 9,126,244: USE OF ENCAPSULATED SUBSTRATES THAT CONTROL THE RELEASE RATES OF ORGANIC HYDROGEN DONORS
Anaerobic reductive dechlorination processes remove chlorinated solvents from contaminated subsurface soil and ground water. The presence of organic hydrogen donors enables anaerobic microorganisms present in the subsurface soil and groundwater to accelerate the reductive dechlorina-tion process. The present invention provides an alternative method to control the release rate of organic hydrogen donors during dechlorination. The invention utilizes encapsulated substrates to control the release rate of organic hydrogen donors, therefore accelerating the biotic process of anaerobic reductive dechlorination.
US PATENT 9,126,245: CHEMICAL OXIDATION AND BIOLOGICAL ATTENUATION PROCESS FOR THE TREATMENT OF CONTAMINATED MEDIA
A method for the removal of semi-volatile organic compounds in soils, sludges, groundwater, process water, and wastewater is presented. Oxidation and biological attenuation processes utilize persulfates and other oxidants with trivalent metals, such as ferric iron or Mn3+, as activators. The resulting chemical oxidation process yields degradation compounds which facilitate further attenuation via biological processes.
According to Michael Scalzi, President of Innovative Environmental Technologies, Inc., “We are proud to continue offering cutting-edge advancements in chemistry, biology and biochemistry to the industry. Where the 244′ patent represents a unique method to prolong the release profile of organic hydrogen donors such as propionates, the 245′ patent integrates chemical oxidation and facultative biological systems in a synergistic approach not offered to the remediation industry. These patents join IET’s patent library. Since 1998 IET has been committed to establishing unique and effective remedial technologies. The addition of the 244′ and 245′ patents expands our intellectual property further, insuring our customers that they are implementing the most efficient, cost effective and technically sound in-situ remedial programs available to them.
