FXI Inc Chemical Oxidation Project
IET completed a comprehensive in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) program at the FXI facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The project utilized advanced multi-oxidant chemistry to treat subsurface contamination.
Primary Oxidants
- Sodium Persulfate11,505 lbs
- Potassium Persulfate5,850 lbs
Activators & pH Control
- Ferric Oxide (Activator)3,900 lbs
- Magnesium Oxide (pH Buffer)390 lbs
Timeline
March 18-26, 2024 (4 days active injection)
Equipment
IET injection trailer and rig with forklift support
Client
CTM Environmental Services
Total Investment
$101,122
The treatment strategy employed a dual-persulfate approach with ferric oxide activation, providing enhanced oxidative capacity. The inclusion of magnesium oxide ensured proper pH buffering to maintain optimal oxidation conditions throughout the treatment zone.
This multi-oxidant approach is particularly effective for addressing complex contamination profiles where both rapid oxidation (sodium persulfate) and sustained treatment (potassium persulfate) are beneficial.
