IET Safety & Compliance Program
Zero-incident culture backed by OSHA HAZWOPER training, site-specific Health & Safety Plans, medical monitoring, and full regulatory compliance across 40+ states. Safety is not a checklist at IET — it is how every project is planned and executed.
Our Safety Program in Detail
IET's HSE program spans training, planning, monitoring, and continuous improvement — protecting our crews, our clients, and the communities where we work.
OSHA HAZWOPER Training
Every IET field technician completes the OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification before mobilizing to any site, with annual 8-hour refresher training to maintain currency.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER initial certification — all field personnel
- Annual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training
- OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour construction safety training for drilling crews
- Site-specific hazard communication and chemical safety briefings
Site-Specific Health & Safety Plans
Before any mobilization, IET prepares a project-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) that identifies site hazards, PPE requirements, air monitoring protocols, and emergency response procedures — reviewed and signed by all on-site personnel.
- Written HASP for every project — no exceptions
- Job hazard analysis (JHA) for each task and drilling method
- Daily tailgate safety meetings before each shift
- Real-time air monitoring for VOCs, oxygen, and explosivity during injection and drilling
Medical Monitoring & Fitness
IET field personnel participate in a medical surveillance program that includes baseline and annual physicals, respirator clearance, and fitness-for-duty evaluations consistent with 29 CFR 1910.120 requirements.
- Annual occupational health physicals for all field staff
- Respirator medical clearance and fit-testing (OSHA 1910.134)
- Hearing conservation program with annual audiometric testing
- Bloodborne pathogen and first aid / CPR certification
Incident Reporting & Investigation
IET maintains a company-wide incident reporting and investigation program. Every incident — from near-misses to recordables — is documented, investigated to root cause, and shared across regional offices to prevent recurrence.
- Near-miss and incident reporting for every project
- Root-cause investigation on all recordable incidents
- Lessons-learned bulletins distributed to all regional offices
- Monthly corporate safety review with leadership
Insurance & Experience Modification Rate
IET maintains comprehensive insurance coverage and a strong Experience Modification Rate (EMR) that reflects a below-industry-average loss history — supporting client insurance and vendor prequalification requirements.
- Workers' compensation, general liability, and auto liability coverage
- Contractors pollution liability (CPL) coverage for remediation work
- Strong EMR supporting client prequalification requirements
- Certificates of insurance available on request for any project
Regulatory & Drilling Compliance
IET operates under state drilling licenses, UIC well construction permits, and DOT hazardous materials transportation requirements across all 40+ states where we work — with dedicated compliance staff tracking renewals and regulatory changes.
- Active state drilling licenses in PA, OH, NC, SC, TX, FL and 35+ additional states
- UIC Class V well construction permit compliance nationwide
- DOT hazmat transportation training for reagent handling and shipping
- SPCC and stormwater compliance for bulk reagent storage and transfer
Regulatory Frameworks We Comply With
IET operations are governed by federal and state regulations covering worker safety, well construction, hazardous materials transport, and environmental protection.
