Dual-Zone Treatment Strategy
An environmental consulting firm contracted IET for comprehensive dual-zone remediation combining unsaturated EZVI injection with deep saturated HRC/Fe bioremediation. The program addressed both shallow soil contamination and deep groundwater impacts.
Treatment Components
Area A Unsaturated (16 points)
• EZVI injection: 25 gallons per point
• Total: 400 gallons EZVI deployed
• Specialized unsaturated zone application
Area A Saturated Zone (18 triple-interval points)
• Depth: 15-25' BGS
• HRC/HRC-X: 40 lbs, ZVI: 60 lbs (2-5 micron) per point
• Complete nutrient package: propionate, yeast extract
Area B Saturated Zone (3 triple-interval points)
• Depth: 15-25' BGS
• HRC/HRC-X: 20 lbs, ZVI: 110 lbs (2-5 micron) per point
• Enhanced iron content for source area treatment
